Rent A Girlfriend Season 5 Arrives in 2026

Fans of Rent A Girlfriend have a date to look forward to. The team behind the anime of Reiji Miyajima’s manga announced on Saturday that a fifth season will arrive in 2026.

That fifth season is really the second half of the fourth, which was always planned as two cours with a gap in between. The fourth season wrapped on Friday with its twelfth episode, so the new run picks the story right back up.

The fourth season began on July 1 on DMM TV and the d Anime Store, then reached television on July 4 in the Animeism block on MBS, TBS and BS TBS. Crunchyroll is streaming it as it airs, as it has with earlier seasons. Character designer Kanna Hirayama drew a celebratory illustration to mark the news.

TMS Entertainment is back from the third season, though Kazuomi Koga, who directed the first two seasons, has returned to replace Shinya Une. The fourth and fifth seasons together adapt the Hawaiians arc. The anime first aired in July 2020, with further seasons in 2022 and 2023.

The story follows Kazuya Kinoshita, a twenty year old college student who rents a girlfriend after a painful breakup and meets the poised Chizuru Mizuhara. Miyajima began the manga in Kodansha’s Weekly Shonen Magazine in July 2017, and it has also inspired a live action series.

My take: Splitting a season and calling the back half its own thing can feel like a stretch, but I am glad the wait for more is short. The Hawaiians arc is a good place to keep the momentum going.
