Kagurabachi Anime Sets April 2027 Premiere
The Kagurabachi anime is officially set for April 2027, and the hype machine has already left the station. Anime Expo 2026 hosted an exclusive preview screening of 20 minutes of episode 1, the first stop on a world tour that runs ahead of the broadcast.
Early reactions from the screening were glowing. Anime Corner, who attended the premiere, called the episode “bloody and brilliant” in their review.
The biggest new shonen bet in years
Takeru Hokazono’s manga became a phenomenon almost the moment it launched in Weekly Shonen Jump, and it has carried the banner for the magazine’s new generation ever since. Chihiro’s quest to recover his father’s enchanted blades is pure, focused revenge storytelling with some of the cleanest sword choreography in modern manga. It is exactly the kind of material that rewards a patient, high quality adaptation.
The timing works in the anime team’s favor. The manga is deep into its most acclaimed material, and the series just entered a short break until August after chapter 125, giving new readers a perfect window to catch up before the adaptation lands. Starting from chapter one now means arriving in April 2027 fully caught up, and the early chapters read fast, with clean art and a story that wastes absolutely no panels.
A world tour premiere strategy tells you how much confidence sits behind this production. Studios do not fly episode 1 around the planet unless they believe they have the next big thing.
My take: April 2027 feels far away, but I would rather wait for the version that gets the sword fights right. Everything shown so far says this one is in good hands.
