Rich Girl Caretaker Light Novel Is Getting a TV Anime
Another quiet romcom is stepping out of the page. The light novel series Rich Girl Caretaker, written by Yusaku Sakaishi with art by Sakura Miwabe, is getting a TV anime adaptation. Staff and cast details have not been shared yet, but the project is officially on the way.
For anyone new to it, the story follows Itsuki Tomonari, a high school student who unexpectedly becomes the personal caretaker of Hinako Konohana after the two get caught up in a kidnapping incident. Hinako belongs to one of Japan’s most powerful business families, and at school she carries herself as the kind of polished, capable young woman everyone expects her to be.
Behind that composed front though, Hinako has almost no practical life skills. She quietly leans on Itsuki to help her manage the basics of daily life. Because of her family’s expectations, she keeps up the perfect image in public, and Itsuki ends up being the one person who really sees her as she is.
It is a gentle setup, the kind that lives or dies on chemistry, and the slow softening between the two characters is the part fans have been hoping the anime gets right.
My take: I have a soft spot for romcoms where the romance comes from someone simply being seen by another person. That is the heart of this story, and if the anime treats those small everyday moments with care instead of rushing to the big beats, it will land. I am curious which studio takes it on, because that choice will decide everything.
