Crunchyroll Launches Free 24/7 Anime Channel on Samsung TV Plus
Crunchyroll has launched a free 24/7 channel on Samsung TV Plus. The channel is available on Samsung smart televisions from 2017 through 2025 and runs entirely on an ad-supported model with no subscription required.
The lineup draws from Crunchyroll’s catalog and includes titles like Yū Yū Hakusho, Assassination Classroom, Black Clover, To Your Eternity, The Tower of Druaga: The Aegis of Uruk, and Witchblade. Programming airs in both Japanese with English subtitles and English dubbed formats, and there are promotional blocks planned alongside episodes of the Crunchyroll podcast The Anime Effect.
This follows a series of expansions for the service. Crunchyroll previously launched on YouTube Primetime Channels, partnered with GSN to bring a 24/7 linear channel to Amazon Freevee, LG Channels, the Roku Channel, and VIZIO WatchFree+, and joined Amazon Prime Video channels in multiple territories. The company also plans to bring curated anime to Delta flights as in-flight entertainment on seatback screens.
My take: Having a free channel that just runs anime around the clock on a TV someone already owns is a genuinely low-barrier way to get more people watching. The catalog mix skews toward titles with broad appeal, which feels like the right call for a channel that will catch people browsing at random.
