You Dont Know Gunma Yet Gets New Light Anime for January 2026
A new light anime adaptation of the comedy manga series You Don’t Know Gunma Yet has been announced. The series, titled Omae wa Mada Gunma o Shiranai: Reiwa-ban, will premiere in Japan in January 2026 on SKY PerfecTV!’s Tetsudo Channel.
Voice actors Gakuto Kajiwara and Jun Kasama will return to reprise their roles as Nori Kamitsuki and Otoya Todoroki. Tetsuya Tatamitani is directing the new light anime and serving as screenwriter, with Emi Saito and Kohei Nakayama as additional scriptwriters. Imagica Infos and Imageworks Studio are handling animation production.
The original manga by Hiroto Ida ran on Shinchosha’s Kurage Bunch website from October 2013 to May 2019, spanning 11 collected volumes. The series previously inspired a live action TV drama and a live action film. A new key visual and teaser trailer have been shared alongside the announcement.
My take: Gunma Prefecture has become a running joke in Japanese pop culture, and this series leans all the way into that with cheerful commitment. Having the original voice cast return for the Reiwa era revival is a nice touch for fans of the earlier adaptations.
