Why Does Nobody Remember Me in This World Manga Reaches Its Final Volume
Kadokawa’s Monthly Comic Alive magazine has published the final chapter of the manga adaptation of Kei Sazane’s Why Does Nobody Remember Me in This World? light novels. The manga was drawn by Arikan and ran until its conclusion. The 14th and final compiled volume is scheduled to ship on November 21.
BookWalker Global publishes the series in English. The story is set after a great war between five races: humans, the Demonic Race, the Wild God Race, the Spirit Race, and the Phantom Beast Race. Humanity came out victorious, and a figure known as Prophet Sid is said to have sealed the other four races away inside a black pyramid called the Crypts. The protagonist Kai watches over those Crypts and trains to protect people should the sealed races ever break free.
The manga adaptation launched in February 2018. An anime adaptation aired in 2024. The light novel series itself, also from Kei Sazane, served as the foundation for both works.
My take: Fourteen volumes is a solid run, and ending a manga that also has an anime adaptation feels like a natural stopping point for this story. The premise of a world that has already been through its great war, with a protagonist quietly standing watch at the aftermath, is a premise with real depth to it.
