Ripples in the River Manga Ends With Its Sixth Volume
Zeniko Sumiya shared on Friday that their manga Ripples in the River, known in Japanese as Kawa ni Sazanami, will wrap up with its sixth volume. That final book is set to ship on December 15.
Seven Seas Entertainment is bringing the series to English readers, and the timing is fresh. The first volume arrived on October 21, with the second due on February 10. The story follows Tanba and Utagawa, a couple who have been together for more than ten years. Uta still cannot quite believe he ended up with such a catch, while Tanba keeps getting caught off guard whenever his playful, young at heart boyfriend suddenly shifts into a more grown up mode.
The manga has a winding publishing history. Sumiya first posted it on pixiv, and Frontier Works began releasing it under its Hug Pixiv label in 2022, reaching the fifth volume in October 2024.
Sumiya is a busy creator with plenty more available in English. Seven Seas is also putting out 5 Seconds Before a Witch Falls in Love, while Animate International handles Breathless Momentum, Loveless Momentum, Sasori to Otome: Scorpio & Virgo, and This Can’t Be First Love.
My take: A gentle, long term romance getting a tidy six volume ending sounds like a satisfying read, and it is nice that English fans can follow it right as it reaches the finish line.
